Raw Records
Raw Records.

Those damn cuddly people at Damaged Goods have surpassed themselves once again with a further two exemplary vinyl re-issues from the Raw vaults:

“Raw Deal” – V/A (Damgood209LP – Yellow Vinyl) & “(Oh No It’s) More From Raw” – V/A (Damgood212LP – Blue Vinyl) feature 32 cuts of Raw rebellion between them, including 5 previously unreleased jams.

Cambridge based Raw Records were one of UK Punk’s 1st independent labels. Raw was home to The Killjoys, The Users & The Soft Boys, amongst others, & was dedicated to the cause for reasons far more complex than a simple quick buck.

“Raw Deal” was originally released in 1977 (& re-issued by Damaged Goods as part of their 77 series) & fast established the label as a front-runner in the Punk & New Wave stakes. The LP features: The Users, Acme Sewage Co, The G.T.’s, The Bloodclots, Sick Things, Psycho’s, The Killjoys & Zhain.

“(Oh No It’s) More From Raw” was originally released in 1978 to celebrate the label’s 1st year & the shifting of over 100,000 45s. Raw’s track record was unmatched elsewhere: 18 x 45s = 18 x Flops. The LP features: The Unwanted, The Users, The Killjoys, Some Chicken, The Gorillas, The Soft Boys, Lockjaw, Acme Sewage Co, The Hammersmith Gorillas, The Downliners Sect (providing the proof, if needed, that 60s Hardcore R&B had exactly the same kind of energy fueling it as Punk did) & The Now.

Both of these records are indispensable documents of their time & should be purchased forthwith (no arguments).
